GENERAL SUMMARY
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides both operational and leadership support to 4Wall Lighting Entertainment by managing capital market relationships, accounting, financial reporting, and acquisitions. The CFO supervises the finance unit and is the chief financial spokesperson for the organization. The CFO directly assists the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budget management, cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs and the securing of new funding.
Responsibilities of the position: Duties include but are not limited to:
Organizational Responsibilities
- Work with the CEO on the strategic vision including fostering and cultivating stakeholder relationships on city, state, and national levels, as well as assisting in the development and negotiation of contracts.
- Attend Board and Subcommittee meetings; including being the lead staff on the Audit/Finance Committee.
- Participate in developing new business, specifically: assist the CEO in identifying new funding opportunities, the drafting of prospective budgets, and determining cost effectiveness of prospective service delivery. Assess the benefits of all prospective contracts and advise the Executive Team on programmatic design and implementation matters.
- Serve as one of the trustees and oversee administration and financial reporting of the organization's Savings and Retirement Plan.
Personal Responsibilities
- Provide the CEO with an operating budget. Work with the CEO to ensure success through cost analysis support, and compliance with all contractual requirements. This includes: 1) interpreting legislative and rules and regulations to ensure compliance with all federal, state, local and contractual guidelines, 2) ensuring that all government regulations and requirements are disseminated to appropriate personnel, and 3) monitoring compliance.
- Ensure adequate controls are installed and that substantiating documentation is approved and available such that all purchases may pass independent and governmental audits.
- Oversee the coordination and activities of independent auditors ensuring all audit issues are resolved, and the preparation of the annual financial statements is in accordance with U.S. General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and federal, state and other required supplementary schedules and information.
- Assist in performing all tasks necessary to achieve the organization's mission and help execute staff succession and growth plans.
- Oversee the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities for the organization including: organizational revenue/expense and balance sheet reports, reports to funding agencies, development and monitoring of organizational and contract/grant budgets.
- Assist in the design, implementation, and timely calculations of wage incentives, commissions, and salaries for the staff.
- Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and ensure a disaster recovery plan is in place.
- Oversee business insurance plans and health care coverage analysis.
- Oversee the maintenance of the inventory of all fixed assets, including assets purchased (computers, etc.) assuring all are in accordance with federal regulations.
- Monitor banking activities of the organization.
- Ensure adequate cash flow to meet the organization's needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Team Responsibilities
- Train the Finance Unit and other staff on raising awareness and knowledge of financial management matters.
- Participate in interviews, hiring, training, development, recommending performance evaluations, resolving problems, and recommending discipline and/or termination, when necessary, of staff members when necessary and in accordance with 4Wall policies and applicable laws.
- Ensure that all team members maintain high customer relations for internal and external customers.
- Provides direction, coordination and support to all team members
- Actively encourage and participate with employee engagement and culture building initiatives
- Ensures accountability from all direct and indirect reports.
- Communicate in a positive, informative and professional manner with all 4Wall Entertainment employees.
Key Requirements
- Completion of a bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience.
- Completion of a master's degree at an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience, preferred
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
- Controller or Chief Financial Officer level experience, preferred
- Five to seven years of financial experience and management experience with the day-to-day financial operations of an organization of at least 50 staff persons.
- Computer literacy, franchise systems and financial management required.
- Energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards and appropriate professional image.
- Strategic visionary with analytical ability and good judgment
- Must possess outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong ability to speak with poise
- Must have exceptional leadership skills and ability to direct, coach, mentor, and develop all levels of employees.
- Must be a strong motivator, with ability to execute strategic direction for the company and influence others in support of the strategy
- Must adhere to all company policies, SOPs, and other management directives.
Physical Requirements
The job duties and tasks of this position require the employee to regularly sit. The employee may choose to stand and move within their working area. Regular use of computer monitors and a keyboard/mouse will be required. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 2 pounds. Other physical requirements of the job include the ability to communicate. Generally, the employee will be in a temperature-controlled work environment set for general comfort.
Availability
- Must be available to work in the evenings and weekends, as required.
