Can LED walls be used for virtual production and extended reality (xR)?

Planning and Practical Considerations

Yes. LED walls are the backbone of modern virtual production and xR workflows, where real-time rendered environments are displayed on large LED volumes that surround a physical set. The camera films the LED wall directly, capturing in-camera visual effects without green screen compositing.

Virtual production typically requires fine-pitch, high-refresh-rate panels to avoid moiré and banding on camera. 4Wall operates virtual production stages including ZeroSpace and has supported productions including The Penguin, Dexter: Resurrection, Daddio and ESPN broadcasts. These applications generally require a custom-build that utilize floors, walls, and ceilings.
