How do I choose the right lighting for my event?

Planning and Practical Considerations

Start with four variables: event type, venue conditions, audience perspective, and budget. A corporate keynote in a ballroom needs clean front light, branded color on the walls, and maybe some texture on the scenic backdrop. A concert needs moving lights for dynamic looks, atmospheric haze, and a versatile rig that can shift between songs. A gala dinner needs ambient uplighting, pin spots on centerpieces, and subtle stage lighting for speakers.

Next, assess the venue: how much ambient light exists (windows, house lights), what rigging infrastructure is available (ceiling points, ground support needed), and how much power is accessible. Then factor in whether the event will be filmed or photographed, which changes CRI and color temperature requirements. Your 4Wall account manager or a lighting designer can help match all of these variables to the right fixture package.
