What pixel pitch do I need for outdoor LED walls?

Resolution, Screen Size, and Technical Considerations

Outdoor LED used to mean big, coarse pixel pitch because that was the only way to get weather durability. That's changed. Today, outdoor-capable tiles are available in the 3mm to 8mm range with full IP65 ratings and high brightness (4,000-6,000+ nits compared to around 1,000 nits for typical indoor panels).

4Wall stocks several IP65-rated outdoor options: the Planar Leyard LN 3.9S Outdoor (3.9mm) at roughly 4,000 nits for fast-rig curved walls; the ROE Carbon CB5 (5.77mm) at up to 6,000 nits in a carbon fiber touring frame; the Chauvet F5IP (5.9mm) at around 5,000 nits calibrated with wide 160°/155° viewing angles; and the ROE Carbon CB8 (8.33mm) for massive sightline screens at 5,000 nits. Choose your pitch based on how close your audience or cameras will be. More information on how to calculate what pitch you need can be found in this article: Pixel Perspectives: A Guide to LED Pixel Pitch
