When do I need more than just an A1 and A2?
Audio Crew and Staffing
An A1 and A2 can handle most small to mid-size events: a single-room corporate presentation, a panel discussion, a gala with speeches and walk-in music. The A1 mixes the show while the A2 manages mics, patching, and backstage audio.
You need additional crew when the production includes: a large wireless microphone count (10+) that requires dedicated RF coordination; multiple rooms running simultaneously (breakout sessions, overflow rooms); broadcast feeds, livestream, or recording that need dedicated mix outputs; complex stage movement with quick mic changeovers between segments; or a concert-scale production with monitors, in-ears, and a full band input list. At that point, a dedicated monitor engineer, system engineer, RF coordinator, and/or broadcast mixer each become necessary to maintain quality.
